The two warriors still alive were aiming their spears at it, their arms trembling a little. They were demoralized, but, as expected of ancestral warriors, they didn’t flee in panic. As for me, I was running my brain in overdrive, trying to find a solution to the situation. Even if I were condemned, I should at least die trying to survive until the end, just like the others.
Clearly, using my spear wasn’t the way. The other warriors were much better than I at handling them and were still massacred helplessly. For a moment, I regretted not taking my metal spear with me, but then shook my head. That might have helped a bit, but the raktuf was so strong and fast that nothing was certain. My current pelts already had some metal plates inserted in them, as padding to increase my defense. Considering how the beast aimed for the head and burst even those reinforced with magical energy like it was nothing, that also wouldn’t improve my survival rate by much.
In the end, the thing I had left was magic, as always. However, my plant magic wasn’t good enough to hold the creature. If plants weren’t the way, I only had earth magic left. And there was indeed one action I never tried before, due to having a huge impact on the surrounding ground, literally.
The two warriors threw their spears at the raktuf. It avoided one but got hit by the other. It was obvious it wasn’t in its best state, when it could avoid such straightforward attacks like they were nothing. Just as it was about to jump on them, I put my hands on the ground, rousing both my willpower and magical energy.
Earth! Protect us!
A wall of soil and rocks instantly erected itself in front of the beast. Its charge was strong enough that it destroyed it, but its momentum was also broken. Since I expected this outcome, I wasn’t deterred and continued to imbue magical energy into the ground.
A wall of earth! Thicker! Much thicker!
The wall’s thickness increased rapidly. Three meters, five, ten. At that moment, there was another large boom, and the beast tried to destroy it once more. However, this time, it held out. When the thickness was about fifteen meters, I changed its growth direction, thinking it wouldn’t be able to break through easily.
Longer! Much longer!
This time, the wall grew toward the sides. Five meters, ten, twenty, fifty. There was now a large unnatural creation in the middle of the forest, but I wasn’t done yet. I had to act quickly before the raktuf understood my aim.
Higher! Much Higher!
The large and thick wall now rose to the sky. Considering its already massive width and length, I felt my magical energy draining fast. Ten meters, twenty meters, thirty meters, forty meters. At that point, I sensed I had reached my limits. There was very little magical energy left in me. So much soil had been poured into my creation that the ground in front of us had a severe depression, almost like a small crater. It was now all or nothing. If this didn’t work, I could only lie down and let the beast kill me.
DROP!
Using almost all my last reserves, I made the incredible mass of earth and rocks fall toward the creature. The wall slowly tilted in that direction, and when the angle became too steep, it swiftly fell in the direction opposite to us.
When it happened, an enormous bang resonated in the forest, so loud that I thought I had lost my hearing altogether. A tsunami of wind, soil, branches, and rocks flew toward us, and I erected a small wall shield in front of me, with the last few drops of magical energy I had left, to protect myself. Sorry, other warriors, I don’t have anything left to help you. They weren’t stupid and had long since hidden behind large trees, though, so they would be fine.
I felt like a large roar resonated in front of us, or maybe it was just what I wanted to hear. However, a weird feeling invaded my body. Suddenly, I felt a rush of foreign energy invading me, pervading through my being.
“Ugh…!”
I couldn’t help letting out a groan, but not of agony. On the contrary, it felt good, incredibly so, even. I sensed my muscles getting stronger, my vitality increasing, my sight improving, my hearing getting sharper, and so on. It was like my whole being received an upgrade, while giving an ecstatic feeling, different from that of a sexual climax. My point of view changed slightly, too, and I thought I might have grown a bit taller. Even my magical energy, which had been depleted, filled itself partially in the blink of an eye.
“Haaah… Haaah… I want to have sex.”
I spouted the first thing that came to my mind, but I believed I knew what had happened. This was the famous transfer of blessing to the warrior who killed a blessed beast. It was no wonder warriors sought blessed beasts to kill them. Not only did it improve everything about them, but it also felt superbly good. It was very addictive!
Once the dust settled, I released the small wall in front of me while the two warriors came out from behind their trees, their eyes and mouths wide open in wonder.
“This is… incredible.”
“Keon, you’re such a strong shaman.”
I nodded, still recuperating from my diverse emotions.
“Did the raktuf die?”
I breathed a few times before answering.
“I think so.”
“Did you feel the blessing being transferred to you?”
“Yes.”
They sighed in relief.
“Good. Then, it’s definitely dead.”
The three of us turned toward the mess I had created. It was a disaster, with earth, rocks, and fallen trees everywhere. This was the reason why I hadn’t been able to try this move before. It was simply too over the top and environmentally destructive.
